Stamping out bullying on the Rim of Hudson Bay
Students and educators of Maani Ulujuk Ilinniarvik, located in Rankin Inlet, the second most populated community of Nunavut, have been taking a few notes on bullying prevention. Since welcoming Canadian Red Cross violence and abuse prevention trainers this past fall, they have been working hard to banish bullying behaviour from their classes, hallways, and schoolyard.

RedTalk is the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies’ (IFRC) learning event, where global experts are invited to share their insights, challenge, and inspire. Each event is an opportunity to learn about a key topic in humanitarian and development work, including provocative and difficult questions faced in today’s complex world.
Symposium - A Catalyst for Change
The Globe Issues Symposium is a part of the Canadian Red Cross' Humanitarian Issues Program (HIP) and for almost three decades has been empowering youth to take action on global issues. This November officially marks their 27 year and the program is currently accepting applicants from youth in grades 10 through 12 for the 2011 session, taking place at Camp Sasamat in Port Moody from November 10 to 13. Youth will attend weekend-long experiential learning workshops where they will engage with topics such as: International Humanitarian Law, refugees, weapons, food security, and HIV/AIDS.
Red Cross youth volunteer raffles painting to raise funds for the Horn of Africa
A raffle was recently held at the Canadian Red Cross National Office for a painting inspired by the drought in the Horn of Africa. The piece, entitled Resilience, was submitted by Daniella Barreto, a 20-year-old artist and long-time Red Cross volunteer who interned with the Humanitarian Issues Program in Ottawa this past summer.
A youth who enjoys helping people through HELP
Aleeza Arcangel, like a lot of youth, was wondering what to do with the rest of her life. A big question, indeed. A teacher suggested to Aleeza that she volunteer at the Canadian Red Cross, in the hopes that it might shed light on what she might like to do in the future. Almost eight months later, Aleeza is the recipient of the Youth Service Award for her service at the Prince George HELP depot.

Origami Cranes
In response to the recent devastation in Japan, Sidhant Pamnani, a second-year Bachelor of Science student at Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC) in Alberta, took it upon himself to organize a fundraiser. He called it the Thousand Origami Crane Project for Japan Earthquake Devastation.
