Youth Leaders Forum - Take the Next Step to Ban Cluster Bombs!

From November 8-12, Mines Action Canada will be hosting a Youth Leaders Forum in Vientiane, Laos PDR and Canadian youth are invited to provide input on this year’s agenda or apply to attend as a youth delegate. The theme for this year’s forum is "Take the Next Step to Ban Cluster Bombs!"

In 2008, Canadian Red Cross youth volunteers actively campaigned to encourage the Canadian government to sign the Convention on Cluster Munitions, an agreement that prohibits the use, production, stockpiling and transfer of cluster munitions, which have caused widespread civilian casualties. Thanks in part to their actions, which included a post-card campaign to Members of Parliament, as well as the work of Mines Action Canada, representatives from states around the globe, including the Government of Canada, signed the Convention.

To apply to attend you must be 18-30 years old as of Nov. 13, 2010, have a working ability in English and be connected to an organization active in the International Campaign to Ban Landmines and/or Cluster Munitions Coalition, such as the Canadian Red Cross.
