Promoting Humanitarian Issues
The Canadian Red Cross promotes awareness about global issues and crises in order to empower an active, informed and compassionate civil society prepared to take action toward alleviating human suffering.
The Humanitarian Issues Program offers humanitarian leadership training for volunteers to prepare them to undertake educational and public engagement activities around selected global humanitarian issues and crises.
The issues we promote include awareness of International Humanitarian Law as well as a campaign called Even Wars Have Limits which includes a focus on the impact of war on women and children. We also look at the humanitarian impact of weapons such as landmines and cluster munitions.

Other issues of concern to the Canadian Red Cross include: access to community-based health care, diseases like malaria, and disaster risk reduction.
